Sometimes the best advice comes from our neighbours.
Innovative Farmers Network began in 2014 when thirteen farming families in central Prince Edward Island started working together to share ideas and find answers to their common questions.
Back then, we were known as the East Prince Agri-Environment Association (EPAA).
What started around kitchen tables, in fields, and through conversations between neighbours has grown into a network of farmers, researchers, agronomists, watershed groups, and industry experts working together for a more sustainable future.
We believe current information should be easy to find and practical to apply.
That’s why we remain committed to sharing research that helps farmers innovate, adapt to new challenges, and continue caring for the land that cares for us all.
Around here, the field is our lab.
A lot of good research never makes it to the people who could actually use it.
Sometimes it gets buried in reports or isn’t tested in conditions that look anything like a real working farm.
We help bridge that gap by connecting farmers, researchers, agronomists, and other experts so that producers can make better use of their resources.
Sometimes “help” means running a trial. Sometimes it means connecting someone with the right expert. Sometimes it’s pointing a farmer toward a pot of money they didn’t know about.
Silos are for grains. Not brains.
Some of the best solutions come from conversations between farmers, researchers, watershed groups, agronomists, and industry experts willing to share what they know.
Good information shouldn’t be buried in silos. It should be shared freely.
That’s a big part of what we do.
We help useful information move from field to field, farm to farm, and farmer to farmer.
Truth is, farmers spend a lot more time thinking about the future than most people realize.
Every decision made on a farm affects more than one growing season.
It affects the soil, the water, profitability, yields, and the long-term future of the industry.
Farmers aren’t looking for shortcuts.
We’re looking for practical ways to farm more efficiently while protecting the land for the next generation.
We’re making a big difference by staying
small.
We’ve stayed small as an organization, because it helps us move quickly, test ideas faster, and stay focused on what matters most.
Instead of growing the size of our group, we’re growing our impact by connecting with more farmers.
Innovative Farmers Network is rooting for the future.
Innovative Farmers Network is rooting for the future.
Everything we do comes back to one question:
Will this make things better for our kids?
If the answer is no, it’s just not good enough.
